By 2030, The Five Roots Foundation will have grown into a credible, safeguarded and community-rooted conservation foundation mobilising children, youth, women and communities to restore ecosystems and build nature-positive livelihoods.
Early momentum
Where we stand today
Building on the 1 Million Trees Planting Campaign launched on 17 April 2025, the founding team reports more than 510,000 trees planted between April 2025 and March 2026. The strategy now focuses on growing, monitoring and stewardship.

Geography
Western Uganda first
Early strategic focus is western Uganda—especially Kyenjojo, Kabarole, Kikuube, Kasese and selected areas linked to the Albertine Rift landscape, including communities around Kibale National Park and Bugoma Forest Reserve.
- 2026 pilot 3–5 selected schools or community sites in one or two priority districts.
- 2027 Expand within initial districts; strengthen conservation and local government links.
- 2028–2029 Scale to additional schools, communities and districts based on evidence.
- 2030 Consolidate the district model and prepare the next strategic period.

Year 1 priorities
2026 foundation-building agenda
The first year builds credibility, safety, governance, evidence and a practical demonstration model—not everything at once.
Validate vision, mission, Five Roots model and 2026 workplan with the founding family.
Complete NGO Bureau registration preparations, board structure and governance records.
Adopt child safeguarding, media consent and youth participation guidelines.
Select 3–5 schools or community sites using clear criteria and partner agreements.
Begin tree growing, school clubs and survival tracking with simple registers.
Build a partner pipeline and produce a 2026 progress note with basic reporting tools.
